Focussing on social Networking sites today. First to learn, then to utilize in the classroom. Just yesterday I saw Facebook used to book a flight, ask for help on what sites were good to book trips on, and I even made my hair appointment on Facebook! So yes, these sites can be used for awesome sharing of information, as well as for entertainment and staying connected socially.

ReplyDeleteI have a Facebook account and had NO idea you could do all of that! I've actually been quite annoyed with Facebook b/c I find most people just racking up numbers of friends for some kind of imaginable competition. I wish I knew how to get the benefits out of it, so that I wouldn't get so annoyed with it, and then I don't log into it for days at a time.
ReplyDeleteI will check out your link.
Social Networking
ReplyDeleteI do not have a Facebook account or know anything about it. I have a hard time just keeping up with my email. I also didn't have a working computer with Internet at home until this week. I have to admit that it was nice to disconnect at home since we use the computer at school so much. I guess I'd better learn more about these social networking opportunities.

I think we could use this in the classroom! Email replacement - Controlled by teacher. I do need to look further into it. It looks kid friendly - is it?
ReplyDeleteI like this idea and would like to find out more from my colleagues.
ReplyDeleteI just read an article about 2 girls in Australia who got stuck in a storm drain. They used their cellphones to access their Facebook accounts to seek help instead of calling Australia's equivalent of 911. The fire department said they would have been saved hours earlier if they had used 911. So I guess there is a reason for social networking education in school, and when not to use it.
