Today we worked on our project. We added chat to our Cadre group site. Then we played with some web 2.0 tools. We did a phrer project. It was simple but fun. You can try it.

It's a Wrap
ReplyDeleteYou have so many new sites and skills after this Cadre. I would love to learn about all of your new sites. I tried some of the sites but didn't have much success so will need some extra guidance. You really were busy learning new concepts.
Enjoy your evening so you can relax.

I checked out the phrasr site. It is neat. How have teachers used it in the classroom?
ReplyDeleteI tried the Phrasr site also - Since I teach keyboarding I typed in "The quick red fox jumped over the lazy brown dogs." It was pretty awesome what the pictures turned out to be. I did not understand how to log out of the program or save it besides emailing it. Maybe you could help me???
ReplyDeleteI am anxious to go to all of the sights listed that you bookmarked into delicious. Phrasr images were interesting. I think I would be very selective with my kindergarteners...
ReplyDeleteI tried Phrasr as well. It is part of the flickr "system," which has quite the image library. There are some other things in there, such as a memory game like the old "Concentration" where you can select a category for the images you want to use (e.g. animals, fish ...). Though fun, I think it may work better in the earlier grades.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember how we saved our project.
This site is worth further exploration. Younger students could practice writing descriptive sentences with this. Lots to learn!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun site. I would like to encorporate it as a quick vocabulary activity using our words of the week. I would like to know how to save it and link it to our web page.
ReplyDeleteI also thought phrasr would be good for vocabulary. Students could be assigned a word to illustrate using phrasr. Then they could teach it to the class. I think the visual cues would help students link the word to their own experiences. What we did to save ours in class was we copied the link and pasted it into Jenn's page. I copied the link just now and pasted it in my delicious file and I could watch it from there. There is probably a better way to do it, but that works. I know that Phrasr stores them but I don't know for how long or if there is a limit to the number it will store. We'll have to play with it a little more. If I come up with anything, I'll keep you posted.
